Stephen F. Austin Experimental Forest
Located 7 miles west of Nacogdoches, TX, the 2,560-acre Stephen F. Austin Experimental Forest (Stephen F. Austin) was established by an act of Congress in 1945. Over the years, the Stephen F. Austin has become increasing attractive as an outdoor classroom for SFA students, for conservation education with the general public, and as a recreation area. To learn more about Stephen F. Trails at ratcliff recreational area
Ratcliff Lake Recreation Area, just 25 miles from Fair Breeze Cottage, surrounds around a beautiful 45-acre lake. Facilities include picnicking, swimming area, concession stand, fishing piers, camping, amphitheater, playground and hiking trails. Ratcliff Recreational area has three trails: 1.5 mile Tall Pines trail, .75 mile Trail Tamers trail, and the Four C National Recreation Trail which is a 20 mile trail that originates in the Ratcliff Recreation Area and goes to the Neches Bluff Overlook
